Chesterfield Fire and EMS offers tips to prevent holiday vehicle fires
CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Chesterfield County Fire and EMS is offering tips to prevent vehicle fires for those planning to hit the road for the holiday season travel.
According to a social post from the fire department on Nov. 26, "vehicle fires happen for a few different reasons," with two most common causes being mechanical issues and electrical problems.
"Making sure your car is properly maintained reduces your risk," Chesterfield Fire and EMS said.

Fire officials are encouraging Virginians to keep an eye out for fluids leaking, loose wires or changes to fuel levels or engine temperature.
Should your car catch on fire while driving, Chesterfield Fire and EMS urges you to pull over as quickly and as safely as possible.
People are encouraged to stop, turn the engine off, get out and move at least 100 feet away from the vehicle before contacting 911.
This comes after a fiery crash and explosion on Interstate 95 in Chesterfield the morning of Tuesday, Nov. 25, that made national headlines and left one person injured.
