Chesterfield implements new speed cameras in school zones
CHESTERFEILD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- As speed cameras have been making their way around the Richmond area Chesterfield County has continued adding speed cameras of its own to school zones.
The speed cameras are only active during school hours when warning lights are flashing, according to a post from Chesterfield County's official Facebook page.
The cameras have been implemented to enhance student and road safety.
The enforcement is now in effect at Moseley Elementary School and has been since Feb. 12, 2025.
Schools that are currently in a 30-day warning period are:
- Cosby High School (Started Feb. 10, 2025)
- Ecoff Elementary School (Started March 3, 2025)
- Reams Road Elementary School (Started Feb. 24, 2025)
- Swift Creek Elementary School (Started Feb. 24, 2025)
Citations will be given out to those traveling 10 miles over the speed limit after the 30-day grace period is up.
