Chesterfield making pedestrian improvements at Rockwood Park

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Changes are underway at a Chesterfield County park, including the addition of bright green paint to its pedestrian lane.

As of Monday, July 21, there are temporary traffic pattern changes in effect at Rockwood Park's entrance from Courthouse Road due to ongoing construction. Per the county, this work is being done to enhance pedestrian safety.

The county shared a preview of these updates, showing off the bright green paint that now differentiates the park's pedestrian lane from the driving lane.

The pedestrian lane remains closed on Monday to keep pedestrians and cars from walking or driving over it as this paint work is completed.

Once the entire pedestrian lane surrounding the park has been painted, crews will move on to painting the park's speed tables.

The final phase of construction will include barriers being installed in the pedestrian lane that will keep vehicles from turning into it from the parking lot.

These projects will continue to impact traffic around Rockwood Park until further notice.

"Thank you for your continued patience and cooperation while this work is being done," the county said.
