Chesterfield spends about $7 million to build new Grange Hall Elementary School

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Chesterfield County has purchased dozens of acres of land to build a new Grange Hall Elementary School, according to Wednesday's Board of Supervisors meeting.

During the meeting held on Wednesday, Oct. 22, the county announced it spent about $7.2 million to buy seven properties from 8800-9000 Winterpock Road for the new elementary school.

The county said it aligns with the current market per lot value, according to an independent appraisal.

It was also approved as part of the 2022 bond referendum.

Per the board of supervisors, the county will also contribute roughly $760,000 to improve the roads that will serve the school.

The acres will allow the county to build a new Grange Hall Elementary School, which is scheduled to open in August 2029.
