Chesterfield teacher arrested after alleged possession of child pornography in Colonial Heights

COLONIAL HEIGHTS, Va. (WRIC) -- A Chesterfield County Public Schools teacher was arrested on Tuesday morning for possession of child pornography in Colonial Heights.

At around 11:45 a.m. on Tuesday, July 22, officers with the Colonial Heights Police Department responded to Regal Cinemas, located at 300 Southpark Circle, for a report of an individual taking photos of a juvenile in a restroom.

Officers responded to the scene, and through their investigation, identified the suspect as 49-year-old Shaun Jason Adams, of Petersburg, who was reportedly found in possession of child pornography.

Officers determined that Adams is a teacher at Chesterfield County Public Schools and notified the school system.

Adams was taken into custody without incident for one count of child pornography, according to officials.

On July 22, Colonial Heights Police detectives and the Petersburg Bureau of Police executed a search warrant at Adams' residence in Petersburg in connection with this crime.

Adams is being held at Riverside Regional Jail without bond, pending his next court appearance.

More charges may come as the investigation progresses, according to police.

Adams' next hearing will take place at 10 a.m. on Sept. 18 at Colonial Heights Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court.
