Chris Pollard announced as head baseball coach at UVA
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WRIC) -- Chris Pollard has been announced as head baseball coach for the University of Virginia (UVA).
The announcement was made on Tuesday, June 10 by UVA's director of athletics Carla Williams, naming Pollard as the 16th coach in the program's history.
Pollard's time in Charlottesville follows 13 seasons at Duke, where he lead the Blue Devils to a 420-296 record as well as seven NCAA tournament berths.
Additionally, this is not Pollard's first stop as a collegiate head coach, over the course of 26 seasons, he has made stops at Pfeiffer, Appalachian State and Duke.
In terms of his history as a player, Pollard ranks in the top 10 at his alma mater, Davidson College, with 20 wins, 309 innings pitched, 18 complete games and two shutouts.
