Crash causes lane closures, backups on I-64 East in New Kent

NEW KENT COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A crash involving multiple vehicles has closed several travel lanes on Interstate 64 in New Kent County on Sunday evening.
The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) sent out an alert on Sunday, March 9 at 7:02 p.m. stating that all eastbound travel lanes are closed at mile marker 219.8 near Eltham Road (Route 33) due to the crash.
As of the initial alert, traffic is moving by driving in the right shoulder and there are four miles of backups, according to VDOT.
