Dinwiddie animal shelter at capacity, dogs looking for loving homes

DINWIDDIE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Dinwiddie County's animal shelter is at capacity, with staff hoping to find its many adoptable dogs their fur-ever homes.
On Thursday, Aug. 14, Dinwiddie County Animal Control announced on Facebook that it is "once again at full capacity."
To help make room at the shelter, staff are encouraging anyone who is looking to add a dog to their family to do so. However, they caution against making such a decision impulsively.
"Please don’t rush in to adopt if you don’t have plans to keep the dog for the rest of its life," officials said. "It is not fair to the dog to adopt then rehome. Shelter dogs are not broken. They deserve love and give love right back!"

Those ready to make that commitment can visit the shelter -- located at 10903 Wheelers Pond Rd -- during its operating hours, which are as follows:
- Mondays and Wednesdays: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Closed Sundays and holidays
