‘Disturbance’ reported at Bon Air Juvenile Correctional Center, investigation underway
CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- An investigation is underway after a "disturbance" was reported at Bon Air Juvenile Correctional Center on Sunday.
According to Virginia State Police (VSP), troopers responded to the correctional center at around 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 9 for the report of a "disturbance" inside a unit that houses 14 to 16 juveniles.
Authorities said that Chesterfield Police also helped to secure the unit, and no injuries to staff members or inmates have currently been reported.
Additionally, Chesterfield County Fire & EMS responded to the report of a fire within the same unit, which state police said was "quickly extinguished."
The incident is currently being investigated by the Virginia Department of Juvenile Justice (VDJJ), and according to state police, there are charges pending.
