Dog found shot dead between Richmond buildings

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- A dog was found shot dead between two Richmond buildings on Monday.

At about 6 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 2, officers with the Richmond Police Department were called to the 2400 block of Carmine Street after it was reported that a dog had been shot.

When they arrived, officers found a dead dog in a grassy area between two buildings. The animal had been shot.

Authorities said that, by the time officers arrived, no witnesses or involved persons could be found at the scene.

"The owners of the dog were located nearby and interviews were conducted," police said. "The owners took possession of the dog."
