Dominion Energy Center’s Carpenter Theatre, Altria Theater receive $2.5 million upgrades

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The Dominion Energy Center's Carpenter Theatre and Altria Theater have received $2.5 million upgrades aimed at improving the visitor experience.
The Carpenter Theatre, located at 600 E. Grace St., has installed a state-of-the-art audio system, as well as upgraded lighting and ticketing systems, improved elevators and new weapons detectors, with upgrades unveiled by venue management company Legends Global on Tuesday, Sept. 16.
Elevators at the Dominion Energy Center were fully modernized, which entailed the replacement of mechanical components and a refresh of the interiors.
The Altria Theater, located at 6 N. Laurel St., also received new weapons detectors. Alongside those security directors, a new bag policy has been implemented at both venues, with no bags larger than 12 by eight by six inches allowed. Medical and diaper bags, however, are exempt from that policy.
The Carpenter Theatre's former PA system is being donated to Gallery5, a Richmond nonprofit arts space.

The Altria Theater has a 3,600 seat capacity and also hosts over 100 performances each year.
“These innovative and technical upgrades enrich the quality of performance and attract top artists, encouraging Richmond stops on national tours," said Chris Dudeck, General Manager for Legends Global, Dominion Energy Center.
