Driver charged after allegedly passing, hitting Albemarle school bus

ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A driver was charged on Thursday morning after allegedly passing and hitting an Albemarle County school bus.

At about 8:40 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 23, an Albemarle County Police Department officer was conducting patrols in the area of Proffit Road and Arcadia Drive and monitoring traffic near school bus routes.

According to police, while in the area, the officer saw a driver pass a stopped school bus on Proffit Road.

After conducting a traffic stop, the officer determined that the vehicle had hit the stop arm of the bus.

The unidentified driver was charged with misdemeanor hit-and-run and passing a stopped school bus.

Police said no students were boarding the bus at the time and there were no reported injuries.
