Driver charged with DUI after hitting pole in Chesterfield, taking down cable
CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A driver is being charged with driving under the influence (DUI) after police say they ran off the road and hit a pole in Chesterfield County late Tuesday night, taking down a cable.
Just after 10 p.m. on Tuesday, June 3, officers with the Chesterfield County Police Department were called to the intersection of Iron Bridge and Tucker Roads for report of a crash.
Investigators determined that an unidentified driver ran off the right side of the road and hit a pole, causing a fiber optic cable to fall into the roadway.

There were no significant injuries. According to police, the driver has been charged with DUI.
The road surrounding the crash scene has been closed in both directions and should ideally reopen shortly after midnight on Wednesday, June 4, police said.
