Driver sought after person shot, assaulted and dropped off at Fluvanna subdivision

FLUVANNA COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A victim remains critical after they were shot, assaulted and dropped off just inside a Fluvanna County subdivision. Days later, authorities are still searching for the driver who may be involved.
At about 2:10 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 15, deputies with the Fluvanna County Sheriff's Office were called to 857 Jefferson Drive after receiving report that a person had been dropped off there with a gunshot wound.
Deputies arrived at the scene, which was the main entrance security station for the Lake Monticello subdivision, to find Aloys Hopfensperger of the Palmyra area, who had been shot and assaulted.
Hopfensperger was taken to a local hospital for treatment, where they remain in critical condition as of the time of reporting.
Authorities determined that Shirley Marie Brown, also of the Palmyra area, drove a black, newer-model Hyundai Palisade with black wheels into the subdivision near its Slice Gate and to the main gate security station, where Hopfensperger was left.
The Palisade, which is registered to Brown, was later found at a Troy area home. This residence is believed to have been where Hopfensperger was shot. Authorities added that Hopfensperger and Brown know each other.
Brown has been"actively avoiding law enforcement" since the incident, according to the sheriff's office.
"It is imperative that she be located immediately, both to ensure her safety and to corroborate her timeline of events on the night of the shooting," authorities said.
Shown above is a photo of Brown, as well as a still from surveillance footage at Lake Monticello that shows her behind the wheel of the Palisade.
If you know anything about Brown's whereabouts, or believe you may have seen this Palisade in the Lake Monticello area early Tuesday morning, you are asked to contact the sheriff's office.

Additionally, if you live or work in the Lake Monitello community, or any neighborhoods or subdivisions between there and the Troy area, you are asked to review any surveillance camera footage you may have of the overnight hours between Sept. 14 and Sept. 15 for anything suspicious.
"Even seemingly minor details may prove critical to the investigation," authorities said.
