DWR Archery Open returning to Richmond Raceway in 2026

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- The Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources (DWR) 2026 Archery Open is taking place at the Richmond Raceway Complex next year, and registration is live.

The event will happen on Saturday, Jan. 10, 2026 at the raceway in Henrico County. It will introduce the Open Championship division, allowing participants to compete with other experienced archers for large cash prizes -- which includes up to 75% of the registration fees that are collected for the division.

Additionally, DWR is introducing the Bowhunter division, in which archers simulate a bowhunting scenario by limiting their equipment.

Those who register before Dec. 19 receive a $25 early bird discount -- though the Open Championship program is excluded. The full price of registration can range from $65 to $150, depending on the class, DWR said.

People will also have the chance to check out the Try Archery Range, which features experienced instructors guiding participants as they learn more about the sport within a supportive atmosphere. No experience or equipment is needed to join the Try Archery Range, and it is free to participants.
