Early morning fire destroys Mechanicsville home
HANOVER COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A family is without a home following a house fire in Mechanicsville Thursday morning. On January 23rd around 12:30 a.m., Hanover County firefighters responded to a house fire on the 7400 block of River Valley Road. Hanover County Fire Chief Chris Anderson said two people and a dog were inside the home when the fire started. Two people were able to escape, but the dog did not. Fire crews marked the fire under control around 1:30 a.m., but the home was deemed a total loss. Chief Anderson said the home did have a working smoke alarm.
