Electric vehicles to take center stage at Chesterfield’s Electricarpalooza

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — The Richmond region's largest annual electric vehicle showcase is returning to the area this weekend.

Electricarpalooza will host the region's largest display of electric cars at Chesterfield County Fairgrounds at 10300 Courthouse Road, between noon and 5 p.m. on Saturday, March 21.

Attendees can expect to see a lineup of new and used EVs, including the Tesla Cybertruck, Volvo EX90, Nissan LEAF, Rivian R1T and more.

Guests will have the opportunity to take the wheel of the Rivian R1S as well as Tesla's Model X and Model Y at Electricarpalooza. Scheduling for the demo drives is as follows:

  • 12-12:30 p.m.: Walk-up drives for Rivian R1S
  • 3:30-5 p.m.: Appointment-only drives for R1S. Register here
  • 12-3 p.m.: Demo drives of Tesla Model X and Model Y

The event will also feature a documentary preview with panelists, a policy roundtable with leaders, an electric mountainboard demo, a community art project and more. Children can also participate in Lego building and diecast car racing at the Electrified Fun Zone.

Leaders from Richmond, Chesterfield County and Henrico County will provide updates during the roundtable on their plans to support EV adoption. They will discuss policy changes, fleet electrification, community charging and more.
