Malachi's mother, Gesina Charles, said she spoke to him around 9:45 p.m. on Sunday, April 5. She said Malachi, her only child, told her he was in danger and scared of multiple men.
Charles further said her son did not have any prior medical issues.
The Henrico County Police Division is conducting an investigation, and said no one has been charged in relation to Malachi's death.
