Emergency track repairs to cause total road closure in Chesterfield County

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Chesterfield County has announced it will temporarily close down Branders Bridge Road and U.S. 301 of for emergency track repairs.

The announcement comes after the county said in a post "a low spot has been identified and will require a total closure of the roadway."

CSX Transportation will be performing the track repairs which is scheduled to start at 7 a.m. Monday, Sept. 22 and reopen at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 24.

According to Chesterfield County, if delays occur due to weather or other factors, announcements will be made this week.

For now, drivers are asked to avoid this closure area if at all possible, and to anticipate extended travel times and delays.

The county added that during this closure, no traffic will be allowed to cross the track until work is complete. Signage will also be placed to mark detour routes.
