Fire blazes from Hanover home’s attic, no one injured

HANOVER COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Smoke billowed from an attic fire inside a Hanover home Thursday evening. Officials said no one was injured.

At 11:47 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 4, Hanover County Fire-EMS crews were dispatched to the 10000 block of Founders Place in the Mechanicsville area for a house fire reported by a worker on site.

When firefighters arrived, they found a two-story home with smoke exhausting through attic vents on two sides of the structures.

Officials reportedly found a fire in the attic. The fire was extinguished and marked under control 47 minutes later.

One person was home at the time and was able to get out safely before firefighters arrived, according to officials. No injuries were reported.

One person was displaced and will stay with family.

The Fire Marshal's office is investigating the cause and origin of the fire.
