Former Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office patrol sergeant charged with sex crimes

LANCASTER COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A former patrol sergeant with Lancaster County Sheriff's Office has been charged with sex crimes out of Northumberland County in connection with an incident that allegedly occurred in 2020.

Edward Logan Fisher, a former Lancaster County Sheriff's Office patrol sergeant, has been charged with one count of attempted rape, forcible sodomy, object sexual penetration, aggravated sexual battery or sexual battery, as well as one count of object sexual penetration by force in connection to an incident that allegedly occurred on April 16, 2020.

The Lancaster County Sheriff's Office confirmed that Fisher is "no longer connected" with the sheriff's office and has not actively worked since February.

The allegations allegedly occurred before Logan was employed with the Lancaster County Sheriff's Office, according to officials.

According to the Northumberland County Sheriff's Office, Fisher also previously worked there as a full-time deputy from January of 2015 through June of 2021. Prior to that, Fisher worked as a part-time dispatcher, then a full-time dispatcher, officials said.

According to court records, Fisher was arrested and arraigned on the two charges in Northumberland County Circuit Court on Tuesday, June 3.

Fisher is slated for a two-day jury trial spanning from Oct. 15 and Oct. 16.

This follows the arrest of former Lancaster County Sheriff's deputy Motley Allen Haynie in July of 2024 for alleged child sex crimes.
