Former Prince George school administrator facing additional child sexual abuse charge
PRINCE GEORGE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Former Prince George County Public Schools administrator William Barnes, Jr., faces a new child sexual abuse charge, bringing his total to 11, after a new allegation surfaced.
In addition to ten previous charges, Barnes now faces one count of "sex offense: type not clear" in connection to an incident that allegedly occurred in May of 1974, according to court records, bringing his new total to 11 charges.
The following are those ten previous charges, which relate to alleged incidents in 1985 and 1986:
- Four counts of aggravated sexual battery by force, threat and/or intimidation of a victim aged 13 or 14
- Three counts of taking indecent liberties with a child as a custodian
- Three counts of sexual assault by force, threat and/or mental incapacitation/helplessness of a victim aged 13 or older
“Despite how long ago the alleged crimes occurred, those forty years technically don’t make a difference in the eyes of the law — at least when it comes to the decision on whether or not to prosecute,” 8News legal analyst Russ Stone previously told 8News.
