Free vaccination clinics for Henrico students in 7th and 12th grade

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Middle and high schools throughout Henrico County will be hosting vaccination clinics for upcoming 7th and 12th graders.

Henrico County Public Schools and Richmond and Henrico Health Districts will be hosting free vaccination clinics at every middle and high school in Henrico from January to April.

They will be providing the required vaccines for the upcoming 7thand 12th graders for the 2026-2027 school year. The clinic will begin on Monday, Jan. 12.

Virginia has required for all students to receive vaccines against different illnesses in order to be enrolled in the school year.

These illnesses require an immunization for the 2026-2027 school year:

Meningococcal conjugate vaccine (MenACWY): students must receive this dose twice, once before 7th grade and another before 12th grade, after the student's 16th birthday. Only students about to enter 7th and 12th grade can receive this vaccine.
Tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis vaccine (Tdap): This vaccine is required for rising 7th graders and any 12th grader who did not receive it before the age of 7. Students who are 11 and over can be vaccinated.

One aspect that is new this year is that there is an individual online registration form for every clinic. They must be filled out by a parent or guardian before a vaccine can be received.

Students can only attend the clinic at the school that they currently attend as a 6th or 11th grader. Parents and guardians are not required to be present at the clinic when the student is there.
