Get ‘Charged Up’ for this festival coming to Richmond in May

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The Charged Up Festival will be taking over Richmond at the end of May, featuring numerous activities from concerts to panel discussions.

The Charged Up Fest is looking to celebrate community, creativity and the power of hip-hop. This year, the festival will focus on connection and impact through a series of events happening beginning Tuesday, May 27, and Sunday, June 1.

Here is a list of the festival's events:

  • May 27: Black History Museum of Virginia – Charged Up Impact Awards
  • May 28: ICA at VCU – Hip Hop & Mental Health Panel Discussion
  • May 29: Vagabond – R&B & Poetry Kickoff Concert
  • May 30: Anytime Beer Co. – The Producer’s Cup & Noah-O Birthday Celebration
  • May 31: John Marshall High School – Community Basketball Game: Team Charged Up vs. Mastering Your Moment
  • June 1: The Broadberry – NOAH-O "Heretic" Album Release Concert with friends

According to a Facebook post from the festival's page, this year Charged Up Fest will not be hosting artist showcases or accepting performance submissions. This is because they are "centered on connecting the community to knowledge, uplifting impactful work, and creating space for education and collaboration."

The festival is still accepting volunteers, donations and sponsorships, and says if you're interested in an event that aligns with their vision, to send them an email so it can be featured on the official itinerary,
