Goochland Powhatan Community Services to host Hopefest in honor of Overdose Awareness Day

GOOCHLAND COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Goochland Powhatan Community Services will host Hopefest on Saturday in honor of Overdose Awareness Day, with activities, free Naloxone and free food for the first 100 attendees.
Hopefest will be held by Goochland Powhatan Community Services from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 23, at 3052 River Road West in Goochland County.
According to organizers, attendees will be able to enjoy free food for the first 100 people, live music, kids activities and share stories of hope and healing.
Free Naloxone will be available, which rapidly reverses opioid overdoses.
Attendees are encouraged to bring personal care items for a hygiene drive in support of GoochlandCares. The most requested items are reportedly the following:
- Baby wipes
- Shampoo and conditioner
- Toothbrushes, toothpaste and dental floss
- All-purpose cleaner and disinfectant wipes
- Laundry detergent
- Toilet paper
- Paper towels
- Soap and body wash
- Feminine hygiene products
- Hand sanitizer
