Good Samaritan’s donation helps save dog’s life in Goochland County
GOOCHLAND COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Goochland County officials came bearing good news this holiday season! A good Samaritan's donation has helped save a dog's life in the county.
Goochland County Animal Care and Protection announced on Tuesday, Dec. 23, the donation of former Goochland resident Keith Vetter.
Vetter recently donated $6,250 to the department in honor of his beloved family dog, Duchess. Per the release, the donation went toward post-operation care for Noel, a dog that was hit by a car and was in urgent need of back surgery.
Officials also thanked the nonprofit Goochland Pet Lovers for Noel's successful surgery performed at Partner Veterinary Clinic.
Noel is now recovering at a veterinary rehabilitation clinic, funded in part by Vetter's donation, per the release.
Officials said Vetter's donation will also increase the department's ability to provide specialized care for animals in need.
"We are grateful to Dr. Vetter for his generous donation and to the Goochland Pet Lovers for their ongoing support,” said director Job Greene. "In addition to helping Noel, these funds will be used to support veterinary care that goes above and beyond what we would typically be able to perform. Specialty equipment and procedures on animals in need that would not ordinarily be covered can now be funded, offering hope and care to many more animals."
