Hanover County offering passport applications at courthouse

HANOVER COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Hanover County is now offering residents and Central Virginians the chance to apply for passports at the Clerk of the Circuit Court's Office.

The service in the county started nine months ago, and according to Circuit Court Clerk Frank D. Hargrove Jr., they have received nearly 760 passport applications since its inception.

"Our office is always looking for ways to better serve Hanover residents," Hargrove said. "By hosting a conveniently located passport acceptance facility, we’re saving people a trip to post offices in Henrico or Richmond."

Hanover is one of 24 Virginia circuit clerk offices, out of 120 statewide, to accept passport applications, which range from cities like Norfolk to smaller areas like Bath County.

According to the press release, new passport applications are accepted by appointment Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Clerk's office in the courthouse located at 7530 County Complex Road in Hanover County.

To schedule an appointment, you can call 804-365-3382.
