Hanover residents can shred documents at two separate events
HANOVER COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Hanover County residents can dispose of sensitive documents at two separate paper shredding events in March.
The first paper shredding event will take place from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, March 21, at Montpelier Recreation Center and Library, located at 15302 Clazemont Road, in the western part of the county, according to a March 17 release from the county.
A second event will take place from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, March 28, a free recycling event will be held at the Mechanicsville Convenience Center, located at 7427 Verdi Lane, in the eastern part of the county.
Residents can bring up to four boxes, paper bags or an equivalent amount of documents for shredding, according to county officials. Participants can then bring their materials directly to the shredding trucks.
Residents will be able to safely and at no cost dispose of up to five gallons of hazardous waste at the March 28 event. Accepted items include:
- Oil-based paints
- Flammables
- Organic liquids
- Aerosols
- Oxidizers, pesticides and herbicides
- Corrosive liquids
- Solids, including pool, hot tub and spa chemicals
- Household cleaners
- Muriatic acid
- Acetic acid
- Drain cleaner
- Oven cleaners, grease and rust removers, glues, mold and mildew removers
- Art and hobby supplies, including photographic chemicals
- Mercury thermometers and switches
No batteries, fluorescent tube light bulbs, explosives or radioactive materials will be accepted.
