RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Did you know that Richmond Public Library has a Memory Lab that allows you to digitalize various forms of media?
Richmond Public Library's Main Library has a Memory Lab, which provides visitors with the resources for personal archiving and the digitalization of media such as photos, home videos and more.
According to the library, this feature is a free, do-it-yourself (DIY) service with step-by-step instructions on the process from beginning to end.

In addition, the center offers the option of using software like Adobe Creative Cloud, Audacity, Elgato Video Capture, Epson Scan, GarageBand, Handbrake and iMovie.
The following are formats that can be digitalized inside of the Memory Lab:
- Photos
- Documents
- VHS tapes
- Vinyl records
- Cassettes
- DVDs
- Floppy disks
- 8mm film
- Reel-to-reel audio
To use the Memory Lab, visitors can simply book a time slot online.
The Memory Lab is situated in the Special Collections Room in the basement of the Main Library branch, located at 101 East Franklin St. in Richmond. The hours of operation are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. The library is closed on Sundays.
