Henrico 4-H Farm Graze event to educate on agriculture
HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- The Henrico 4-H Farm Graze event will be hosted at Deep Run Park to teach about the importance of agriculture for kids of all ages.
On Monday, March 2, Henrico County announced that the family-friendly Henrico 4-H Farm Graze event will celebrate and recognize the importance of agriculture and community with live animals and hands-on activities.
The event will be held on Saturday, March 21, from 1 to 4 p.m. at Deep Run Park and Recreation Center, located at 9900 Ridgefield Parkway, and is organized by the Henrico 4-H Youth Development.
Attendees will have the chance to see up close and possibly touch chicks, rabbits, horses, goats, snakes and bees.
After a two-year break, this event has returned for the third time to share the importance of agriculture and the crucial role the animals, food and nature play, according to the release.
Henrico 4-H and over 20 local partners will attend to educate attendees about their program.
Local honey will be sold at the event and will benefit different 4-H programs. There will also be an opportunity to donate items for the Henrico Police Animal Shelter.
Some of the types of items the shelter needs include:
- Canned dog food
- Dry and canned foods as well as formula for kittens
- Peanut butter
- Gerber baby food with the following flavors: turkey, beef and chicken varieties
- New or gently used towels and blankets
- Wire crates for medium or large sizes
- Cat carriers
