Henrico County hosted its outdoor pop-up adoption event

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- The Henrico Police Animal Shelter hosted an outdoor pet adoption pop-up on Sunday, Aug. 3.

The event invited community members to meet available pets for adoption and to help future animals in need of care.

Animals featured at the adoption pop up included, cats, dogs, rabbits and guinea pigs.

According to Henrico County, any dogs who are already spayed and neutered are ready to go home with their adopters the same day with a $10 adoption fee.

For pets who were not spayed or neutered, they will have additional fees for their procedures. Henrico County added that, the spay or neuter will be scheduled upon adoption and will be ready to go home with their new family shortly after.

Shelter manager Pamela Bridgmon stated, "Every adoption is a double win for us; a pet goes home with their new family, and we gain space to support incoming lost and stray animals."

Adopters are required to be 18 or older, however are not required to be a Henrico County resident.

“Over 100 shelter dogs have found homes as a result of these events in the past 11 months, thanks to the community and our wonderful volunteers,” Bridgmon shared.

If you missed Sunday's adoption don't worry, all pets for adoption can be viewed online on the Pet Finder website, as well as the Adopt-a-Pet website.
