Henrico County raises beam at rebuilt Eastover Gardens Firehouse 6

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- The Henrico Division of Fire "raised the beam" as part of the rebuild for Eastover Gardens Firehouse 6 station earlier today.

At 10:30 a.m., On Tuesday, Jan. 6, Fire Chief Jackson Baynard and members of the Henrico County Division of Fire attended the raising of the first ceiling beam into the station's roof. A massive milestone in the reconstruction of the new Eastover Gardens Firehouse 6 in the Varina District at 3401 Gay Ave.

The project cost $14.1 million, and is being funded through voter approval in a 2022 bond referendum to increase the fire services in the Eastern Henrico communities.

Fire Station 6 is one of the busiest in Henrico County -- in 2024, firefighters at the station responded to around 11,000 service calls.

The original fire station was built in 1969 on S. Laburnum Avenue, and the new station was designed to focus on the best amenities and practices in the industry. This includes station design, layout, safety, efficiency and firefighter well-being.
