Henrico County Schools to open kindergarten registration for 2025-26

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Kindergarten registration for Henrico County Public Schools (HCPS) will begin next week.

Kindergarten registration for all 46 of HCPS' elementary schools will soon open up for the 2025-2026 academic school year for children who will be 5 years old by Sept. 30.

According to HCPS, parents or legal guardians can start the registration process online by providing the necessary documents -- such as the enrollment form and health form -- or families can get everything done in person at the 2025-26 Kindergarten Registration Kickoff Event.

Online registration will begin on Monday, March 24 and the in-person Kindergarten Registration Kickoff will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 10.

The school district said experts and translation services will be available at the kickoff event to provide any additional help or information to prep families for the first day of school in August.

The following documents are needed for kindergarten registration but are not limited to:

• Original or state-issed birth certificate
• Proof of residency
• Immunization record
• Completed health physical -- no earlier than a year before the date that your child will start school
• Photo ID or driver's license for parents/legal guardians that include a Henrico County address
