Henrico felon sentenced to over 5 years after officers found gun in his car

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- A Henrico County felon was sentenced to over five years in prison after officers discovered he was carrying a firearm while arguing with his girlfriend.

On Tuesday, June 24, 35-year-old Michael Nolan of Henrico was sentenced to five years and three months in prison for possessing a firearm as a convicted felon, according to the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ).

In August 2024, officers with the Henrico County Police Division were called to an apartment complex after receiving a report of gunshots.

When officers arrived, they found Nolan arguing with his ex-girlfriend. He was intoxicated and standing next to a car. Officers found a handgun in the car's floorboards and arrested Nolan.

Nolan was previously convicted of both robbing and attempting to rob pizza deliveries with a knife back in 2010. He was later found guilty of two felony probation violations.

As Nolan is a previously convicted felon, he cannot legally possess firearms or ammunition.
