Henrico man killed, emergency vehicle driver injured in Fluvanna County crash
FLUVANNA COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- The Virginia State Police responded to a deadly two-vehicle crash this morning in Fluvanna County that claimed the life a Henrico County man.
At 7:51 a.m. on Wednesday, March 19, state police responded to a deadly crash that took place in Fluvanna County at the intersection of James Madison Highway and East River Road.
According to VSP, a 2022 Ford F-550 Fluvanna County emergency vehicle was traveling northbound on James Madison Highway, when it was unable to dodge a 1998 Ford F-150 that pulled out onto the intersection from East River Road.
State police confirmed that there's a stop sign at East River Road, also that the emergency vehicle had its lights and siren on. The emergency vehicle ended up hitting the driver's side of the F-150.
The driver of the F-150 was 61-year-old Luis J Sanchez of Henrico, who died on the scene of the crash. The passenger of the truck was 42-year-old Marco H. Guerrero, who was taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for serious injuries. Both were wearing a seatbelt.
The driver of the Fluvanna County emergency vehicle was 21-year-old Virginia R. Davis of Waynesboro, who acquired serious injuries from the crash. The passenger, 32-year-old Hunter C. Aimes had minor injuries. Both were wearing seatbelts and taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for injuries.
Virginia State Police is still actively investigating this crash.
