Henrico police officer arrested for DUI after running off-road in New Kent
HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A Henrico County police officer is accused of DUI after running off-road and crashing in New Kent County early Saturday morning.
Deputies with the New Kent Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a single-vehicle accident at the intersection of Airport Road at Terminal Road in New Kent in the early morning hours of Saturday, Sept. 20.
The vehicle had reportedly run off the roadway, but the driver -- identified as Shannon Marshall, a police officer with the Henrico County Police Division -- was not injured. Authorities said the vehicle had "little to no damage."
"Based upon firsthand knowledge/observations, a driving under the influence investigation was conducted," authorities said.

Marshall was arrested for driving under the influence. 8News also found a second charge, failure to obey a highway marking, with the same offense date in online court records.
According to the Henrico County Police Division, Marshall has been working for the county since October 2021, starting as a 911 dispatcher and then becoming a police officer in February 2024.
Henrico Police confirmed to 8News that Marshall is currently on paid administrative leave. The division's Office of Professional Standards is conducting a separate, independent investigation into the incident.
No other people were involved in this incident.

Marshall was taken to Pamunkey Regional Jail on an unsecured bond. Her next court appearance is set for 8 a.m. on Oct. 15 in the New Kent General District Court.
