Henrico Schools holds monthly job fair for open staff positions

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Henrico County Public Schools (HCPS) held its May Job Fair on Tuesday, encouraging candidates to explore open staffing opportunities across the division.
According to a release from HCPS, candidates were sought for the following positions:
- Custodial and maintenance staff
- Substitute bus drivers
- School nutrition staff
- Instructional assistants
- Substitute teachers
- Classroom teachers
"This started with transportation and school nutrition -- those were the areas that had the biggest vacancies several years ago -- but through the teacher shortage and the substitute teacher shortage, we've expanded it to include classroom teachers [and] substitute teachers," said Dwight VanRossum, HCPS' talent acquisition and retention specialist. "And then, since we were already having these events, we added things like school security, instructional assistants and facilities."
The job fair was held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the division's Parham Road offices, located at 1910 E. Parham Rd.
