Hermitage Road to see closures due to six-month water line replacement project
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Drivers should expect road closures on Hermitage Road in the City of Richmond due to a water line replacement project, starting Monday.
This project intends to last for six months on Hermitage Road, with crews beginning to relocate a water line starting Monday, May 19. This work will require a 24/7 closure of the road in various areas and will be executed in about five phases, and detours will be implemented.
"The water transmission main does not connect directly to service lines, therefore no water service will be impacted by this project," the county said in the release.
These closures will take place on the following road sections:
- Phase 1 (Two weeks):
- Traffic will be detoured from northbound Hermitage Road to W. Leigh Street and Sherwood Avenue
- Phase 2A (Eight weeks):
- The southbound lanes of Hermitage Road will be converted to a two-lane, two-way road on the west side of the existing median. Northbound Hermitage Road traffic will be diverted to this new traffic pattern.
- Phase 3 (One week):
- Hermitage Road will be closed between Rhoadmiller Street and Cummings Drive. Traffic will be diverted to Sherwood Avenue, Hardy Street, and Rhoadmiller Street.
- Phase 2B (Eight weeks):
- The southbound lanes of Hermitage Road will be converted to a two-lane, two-way road on the west side of the existing median. Northbound Hermitage Road traffic will be diverted to this new traffic pattern.
- Phase 4 (One week):
- Traffic will be detoured from northbound Hermitage Road to W. Leigh Street and Sherwood Avenue.
The work is to be coordinated with the Diamond District's development, as per a release from the county.
