High wind advisory posted for Norris Bridge over Rappahannock River

MIDDLESEX COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) has issued a high wind advisory for the Robert O. Norris, Jr., Bridge.

The bridge connects the Northern Neck and Middle Peninsula over the Rappahannock River between Lancaster County and Middlesex County.

According to VDOT, high-profile vehicles such as tractor-trailers, box trucks, large vans and SUVs should not cross the bridge.

"Trucks carrying small or empty loads may be especially at risk," a release from VDOT reads.

Construction of new Rappahannock River bridge to begin eight years early

High wind advisories are posted when there are frequent wind gusts of 45 mph or greater for a period of 30 minutes or more, according to VDOT.
