Hopewell native could be NFL’s next Offensive Rookie of the Year
HOPEWELL, Va. (WRIC) -- A former Hopewell High Blue Devil may be the NFL's next Offensive Rookie of the Year.
TreVeyon Henderson, a Hopewell native and a former Blue Devil, has been selected as a finalist for the Associated Press' (AP) 2025 NFL award season. Henderson, a running back who was drafted by the New England Patriots in April 2025, is in the running for Offensive Rookie of the Year.
During his Hopewell High School career, Henderson ran over 4,000 yards, scored 50 touchdowns and was named the Virginia Gatorade Football Player of the Year. He was the top-rated running back in his recruiting class.

- Jaxson Dart, quarterback for the New York Giants
- Emeka Egbuka, wide receiver for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers
- Tetairoa McMillan, wide receiver for the Carolina Panthers
- Tyler Shough, quarterback for the New Orleans Saints
Winners of this honor and many others will be announced during the NFL Honors ceremony on Thursday, Feb. 5. The ceremony will be held at the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco, California.
