RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Virginians are bracing for extreme winter weather conditions this weekend as a winter storm is expected to potentially bring heavy snow, freezing rain and ice accumulation -- along with the possibility of power outages.

According to the Virginia Department of Emergency Management (VDEM) here's a checklist with a few items to have on hand in the event of power loss:
- Blankets
- Drinking water and snakcs
- Basic first-aid-kit
- Flashlight with extra batteries
- Hand warmers
- Portable smartphone power bank
