Injured man rescued after falling from dam on Appomattox River in Chesterfield

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A man was rescued by a helicopter after he had fallen from a dam along the Appomattox River in Chesterfield County and became injured Monday evening. At 4:40 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 14, Chesterfield County Fire and EMS crews responded to the 21400 block of Penmar Drive to help a man who had fallen off a dam along the river near the John J. Radcliffe Recreation area. Officials said the man had non-life-threatening injuries, but because the area was difficult to access, MedFlight was called in to lift the man and take him to a local hospital.
