Inspection of Eltham Bridge set for early May

NEW KENT, Va. (WRIC) -- An inspection of Eltham Bridge in New Kent has been scheduled for two days in May, which will potentially cause delays for commuters.

According to the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT), travelers that use the Eltham Bridge over the Pamunkey River might experience delays on May 6 and 7 as test drawbridge openings are scheduled to take place.

The tests will occur between 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 6 and 2 a.m. on Wednesday, May 7. During this time, traffic coming from West Point and New Kent will be stopped for what VDOT described as 15-minute intervals and then cleared before the next test.
