Items stolen from vehicles in VCU parking decks, police looking for persons of interest
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Following thefts from multiple vehicles parked at parking decks near Virginia Commonwealth University's (VCU) Monroe Park Campus, police are looking for persons of interest. VCU police said in the past week, multiple vehicles parked in VCU parking decks reported that items were stolen from their vehicles. In most of these instances, police said vehicles were unlocked at the time. Officials have identified a group of people believed to be persons of interest in the thefts. The pictures below taken from security cameras were released by police in an attempt to identify them. Anyone who may have seen the persons of interest is asked to call police at 804-828-1196. VCU Police reminds folks to take the following steps to keep their vehicle and items safe: Never leave your car unattended, unlocked and/or running with the keys inside. It only takes a second for someone to steal a vehicle that’s already running and unlocked. Always lock your car doors and windows. Thieves will try to open doors or reach in through open windows. Keep laptops, cell phones, purses, book bags and anything else of value in the trunk of your vehicle or take them with you. Do not store spare keys in your car or in your car’s gas compartment. Thieves know where to look for them. If you see people trying to open the doors of multiple vehicles, contact VCU Police at 804-828-1234.
