‘It’s just not a good day for us’: Families react to former Henrico Doctors’ Hospital NICU nurse granted bond
HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — The news of a former Henrico Doctors' Hospital nurse being granted bond sent shock waves to families involved in the ongoing investigation Wednesday.
Former Henrico NICU nurse granted $25,000 bond in child abuse case
Erin Strotman of Chesterfield County was granted a $25,000 secure bond by a Henrico Circuit Court judge.
Along with conditions including house arrest and having to wear a GPS ankle monitor, Strotman is not allowed to provide services as a healthcare provider nor healthcare professional.
"It's just not a good day for us," Dominique Hackey told reporters following Wednesday's hearing.
Hackey is the father of twins who stayed in the NICU.
One of his sons is an alleged victim in the overall investigation into the hospital's unit after suffering a fractured tibia in the NICU, according to Hackey and medical records.
"I think we share the same feeling of anger," Hackey said. "She harmed the most innocent human beings that there are and now she's out on the street celebrating with her family when she she's done something so despicable."
Once the judge gave the conditions -- granting Strotman bond, Strotman's mother was seen wiping her eyes with tissues and sniffling.
Stroman's father declined to give a comment to reporters on the matter.
Strotman's attorney told 8News, "I'm just happy we got a bond today."
Strotman's next court appearance is May 12, 2025.
