James River Association offers free native plants, rain barrel workshops to Petersburg residents

PETERSBURG, Va. (WRIC) -- Spring has nearly sprung! The James River Association is offering free native plants and rain barrel workshops to Petersburg residents in April.

The association said a native plants workshop will be held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, April 23 at Petersburg Public Library, located at 201 West Washington St.

Attendees will learn about the benefits of native plants, how they support wildlife and where to source them.

Each free registration reportedly comes with a regionally native plant courtesy of Local Ecotype Richmond Natives (LERN). To register, click here.

In addition, a rain barrel workshop will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 26 at the City of Petersburg Public Works and Utilities, located at 1340 East Washington St. Attendees will learn how to assemble and install rain barrels at home.
