Registration opens for RVA Esports Championship 2025

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Attention, Richmond area gamers! Registration has opened for the RVA Esports Championship 2025, where you can compete against fellow players in a variety of different games.

The championship will be held at the Hilton Hotel Short Pump, located at 12042 W. Broad St., on both Saturday, Aug. 30, and Sunday, Aug. 31.

A warm-up will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. on Saturday before the day's events.

Beginning at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, players will compete in Call of Duty, Super Smash Bros Ultimate and Street Fighter 6. The finals will be played afterward on the main stage.

Sunday's warm-up will also be held from 9 to 10 a.m., with competitions beginning at 10:30 a.m. Games will include Rocket League, Mario Kart 8 and Tekken 8.

According to organizers, competitors are asked to bring their own controller and headset. Extras may be provided but are not guaranteed.

Each game will reportedly feature its own bracket, with players competing one-to-one with another gamer.

"The tournaments will follow specific rules and regulations tailored to each game, ensuring fair play and thrilling competition," organizers said. "With double-elimination formats and nail-biting showdowns, only the strongest will emerge victorious to claim the coveted title of RVA Esports Champion!"

Registration is $55, which includes two day passes to ImmerseCon25, access to the Cyber Dungeon challenge and a free ticket to Kings Dominion.
