John Marshall High School senior dies following shooting

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- A senior at John Marshall High School died following a shooting over the weekend, just over two weeks before he was supposed to graduate.

In an email shared in the morning on Monday, May 12, Richmond Public Schools Superintendent Jason Kamras confirmed that a senior at John Marshall High School was killed in a shooting.

A spokesperson for the school system confirmed the student was Sherrod Bosher.

Dr. Shonda Harris-Muhammed, 6th District Richmond City School Board member, shared a message from the administration on social media in the evening on Sunday, May 11, regarding Bosher's death.

"It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of Sherrod Bosher, a beloved member of the John Marshall High School Class of 2025," Harris said. "Sherrod was a part of our school family, and his loss is deeply felt across our community."

Harris added that the school system's Crisis Team would be on-site on Monday to offer support to anyone who may need it. In addition, the message said there will be designated spaces available for reflection, conversation and comfort.

Bosher would have graduated on Wednesday, May 28.
