Known felon arrested after police chase in Richmond

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- A known felon was arrested after a police chase in Richmond on Wednesday, during which police say he hit two other vehicles.

Just before 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 25, detectives with the Richmond Police Department were in the 1300 block of Stony Run Parkway when they tried to perform a traffic stop on a known felon believed to be in possession of a firearm.

According to police, the suspect did not stop, instead driving away from detectives and hitting a parked vehicle. He then hit another vehicle in the 2400 block of East Main Street.

"The suspect was apprehended a short time later on Richmond’s Southside with assistance from the Metro Air Unit," police said.

The suspect has since been charged with eluding police, hit and run and the possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
