Late-night severe thunderstorm warnings for parts of Central Virginia
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Parts of Central Virginia are under severe thunderstorm warnings late Monday night.
On Monday, March 31, severe thunderstorms with high winds hit the Central Virginia area. These new warnings from the National Weather Service (NWS) follow several others that were issued earlier this evening.
A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect in the following counties until 11 p.m. Monday:
- Middlesex County
- Northumberland County
- Lancaster County
This storm system could bring .75-inch hail and winds of up to 60 mph to the areas under warning.
These storms have already caused damage in other parts of Central Virginia, including Caroline, Essex and Greensville counties.
